Strength, Dedication, Discipline, and Determination
"I was given the opportunity to do a bike monument by the Golden Civics foundation. They asked me if I could do a bronze sculpture. I told them i could, but that it would be far better if the bike section of the sculpture was actually cast in a much tougher, harder metal. I suggested they have me do it in stainless steel. The body of the biker is actually all cast in bronze, and welded to the bike. Stainless steel and bronze are compatible metals, and weld together very well."

"I decided to make the wheels elliptical instead of round to give the idea of a bike in motion, and also tipped the bike to one side to duplicate the action of the rider bearing down on the pedals, which tilts the bike to weight bearing side. This sculpture is all about speed and the rider doing all he can to finish as fast as possible."
